We aren’t the only ones who are fans of the Glastron brand; it appears that the legendary Mr. Bond is too! The brand is featured in two of the classic James Bond films: Live and Let Die (1973) and in Moonraker (1979). So, which Glastrons took his fancy?
Car chase scenes aren’t the only action packed moments you’ll find in Bond film, there are also some very impressive motorboat chase scenes. Live and Let Die has an incredible one with Roger Moore as James Bond. This film features the Glastron GT-150 which is shown doing some crazy stunts which we only recommend you do if you have Bond level skills. It is powered by an Evinrude outboard and the boat leaps over the length of two cars and a sheriff who is amazed by what he is witnessing.
Moonraker premiered in 1979 and clearly they had enjoyed the sportiness of the previous Glastron and decided it needed to make another appearance. Roger Moore once again takes his place on the Glastron Carlson CV23HT by deploying homing missiles from the boat. The boat chase takes place in the Amazon and Bond makes his escape from the villains. Did you know that you could actually buy this hard top model? It was a rare limited edition of only 300 boats!
Perhaps the brand will appear again an upcoming Bond film and we are curious to see which of the new models will be seen as action-movie worthy for those incredible fast-paced scenes. From the movie world to the actual world – it’s only three weeks until the highly anticipated Southampton Boat Show.
There will be 80 new exhibitors at this year’s festival and tickets are selling fast so you will need to make sure you get yours quickly before you miss out on some incredible finds and stands.
