The Elan 31 is a competent, fast cruiser/racer; an excellent all-rounder with good sea keeping abilities and comfortable accommodation sleeping up to six in two double cabins and saloon.

‘Goblin’ is presented in excellent order and benefits from a continual programme of maintenance and improvements including standing rigging replacement and new sprayhood in 2021 and sail drive diaphragm and water pump replaced in Spring 2024.

Accommodation

The accommodation offers up six berths in two cabins with good headroom throughout.

Steps leading down through companionway to comfortable saloon area.  L Shaped galley to port with stainless steel double sink and mixer tap with hot and cold pressurised water, two burner gimballed gas cooker with oven and grill, top loading Isotherm refrigerated cool box and plenty of stowage, deck portlight. Saloon with settee berths to both sides, storage above and below and drop leaf table with bottle stowage to centre, roof light/deck hatch above and 2 x deck portlights. Navigation area to starboard side with chart table and stowage beneath, navigator seat with stowage and reading light. Deck portlight.

Forward cabin with V Berth and infill cushion creating a double berth. Storage below and shelving above. Escape hatch to foredeck.

Aft cabin with double berth, locker and shelf, opening portlight to cockpit and opening portlight to port side.

Heads/shower compartment with marine toilet, vanity unit with hot and cold mixer tap/pull out shower and storage locker below, wet locker with drainage to the shower bilge. Electric shower sump pump. Opening portlight and access to engine compartment.

Teak and holly style flooring, 12V interior lighting, Webasto Airtop 3500 diesel fired warm air heating. Curtains and snap on covers to portlights.

Mechanical and Electrical Systems

Located abaft the companionway Volvo D1-20 3 cylinder 18hp diesel engine (2006). Engine hours 1008. Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Electric start. Volvo 130S Sail drive with “Flex O Fold” two blade folding propeller. Flexible engine mounts. Cruising speed 5 knots. Maximum speed 7 knots.  Engine serviced October 2025 and sail drive diaphragm replaced Spring 2024.

Stainless steel standing rigging (replaced summer 2021). Terylene running rigging. Furlex 200S roller furling gear (serviced 2021). Lazy jacks and Fast pack mainsail bag (2020). Rod kicker. Slab reefing to main, roller furling genoa.  All lines led aft to cockpit.

Built in 2006 by Elan Marine of Slovenia to a design by Rob Humphries. White GRP hull with blue style lines. White GRP superstructure with moulded non slip to decks. Teak toe rail. Shallow fin keel. Self draining cockpit with teak laid seating and cockpit sole. Stowage locker to starboard side. Tiller steering to skeg hung rudder. Self draining anchor locker. Bathing platform with h & c shower. Hull epoxied 2011
